Reality Bites

Is it just me or is it just way too much realism in movies these days ? Or is it just plain blood and gore under the cover of reality?
If Paruthi Veeran's heroine getting nailed to the wall kindof shocked me,Apocalypto left me absolutely dazed. I haven't seen that much blood and brutality onscreen in a long time. Ripping a still-beating heart out of a man( and the director takes his own sweet time in showing the ripped out beating heart ,covered with blood, from all angles),blood gushing out of a head wound, jaguar tearing a man's face to pieces, balls being pulled out of a dead boar..yea you want more of this, you should watch Apocalypto. Its a bloodbath.
After that fiasco,I decided to watch Babel.Pretty decent movie with 3 stories that seemed to have some contrived connection to each other. But ,then again, even this guy couldnt resist sticking to the reality norm.Wringing a hen's neck and plucking off its head, stitching the heroine's gun shot wound using a heated needle(of course,no anaesthisia, she was alive and kicking and screaming all the while).
Reality Bites. When is the next Captain movie being released? Nothing like some serious humor to get me back to earth.

Dhoom2-Whats all the fuss about?

Dhoom2 -Could be easily nominated for the worst movie of the year. And whats more,it has a 100% chance of winning that.
Hrithik -The saving grace of the movie. The ONLY reason to bear the 2 hr torture.

Abhishek - Poor thing.Weak characterisation + pathetic dancing skills.Next to Hrithik,he cuts a sorry figure.

Bipasha - Looks really good.Does justice to her near non-existent character in the movie.Wish she had played Aish's role.Shes used to bare minimal clothing. So she carries of almost any costume with elan.

Aish - She better cover up.She looks awfully uncomfortable in most of the scenes.Perhaps 'cos shes not used to skimpy clothing. Also, terribly bad acting.Theres absolutely no chemistry between her and Hrithik. And very patchy makeup that makes her look bad in most of the scenes. She looks good only in one or two songs.Makes you wonder if blowing up that whole kissing scene was just a publicity stunt to get people to watch the movie.

Story - ? Whats that ? Theres nothing like that in this movie.

Overall,Dhoom 2 has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. It'll linger till I watch a good movie.

viva--(aiyyo)h

For the past two weeks,I’ve been catching movies I never wanted to watch .Attribute it to the fact that any ,ANY movie would perpetually be houseful in Hyderabad (People seem to find nothing better to do in this city).First it was Apna Sapna money money.[I could not believe my eyes when I saw that someone @ the theater had come to collect tickets for this movie ,that they had advance booked through tele-booking.Talk about desperation].Then yesterday,it was “Vivaah”.And I must admit, though I could sit through “Apna S M-square” ,inspite of all its corny double-meaning dialogues and barely clothed small-town girls, “Vivah” was a tough nut to crack. The journey from engagement to marriage was torturous.I found myself yawning before the intermission . Vivah is a fairy-tale, idealistic movie with ideal people.Everyone is the perfect bahu,groom,son,daughter,sister-in-law,father-in-law..etc.Everyones paal-vadinjufying in the movie. As a result,The movie is all too sweet, all too predictable ,and hence ,all too borring. God,what I would’ve given yesterday to see Captain ward off bullets with archanai thattus or Vijay pull off Santro doors ,just like that .
